FAQ

Faulk Center for Counseling in Boca Raton, FL

Faulk Center for Counseling in Boca Raton, FL

Is the Boca Rio Road facility your only location?

Yes. The Faulk Center’s main office is located on Boca Rio Road. However, we also provide services beyond our main facility through off-site partnerships across the community.

This includes partnerships with schools throughout Palm Beach County, as well as senior-focused services in senior centers, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation facilities, and senior membership communities in Palm Beach and Broward Counties. In addition, some services may be available through telehealth when appropriate.

Do you accept health insurance payment for services?

Yes, on a limited basis. The Faulk Center accepts health insurance for certain services and providers. Please contact us at 561-483-5300 for current details about insurance availability, eligibility, and accepted plans.

For clients who do not have insurance, or whose services are not covered by insurance, the Faulk Center remains committed to providing low-cost counseling and support services. Financial assistance may be available based on need, so cost should not prevent someone from reaching out for help.

Do you have psychiatrists on staff to prescribe and monitor medications?

No. The Faulk Center does not have psychiatrists on staff and does not prescribe or monitor medication. However, we work closely with the medical community and other mental health professionals, and we can help clients understand when it may be appropriate to seek a medication evaluation from a psychiatrist, primary care physician, or other qualified medical provider.

Our role is to provide counseling, therapy, support groups, and related mental health services. When medication may be part of a client’s overall care, we encourage collaboration with the appropriate medical professionals.

Do you provide transportation services for clients?

No. The Faulk Center does not currently provide transportation services for clients. While transportation assistance was offered in the past, we have found over the last several years that the need for this service has decreased. As a result, we have redirected those resources toward expanding counseling and support services.

Our office on Boca Rio Road is located along the Palm Tran bus system, which may be a transportation option for some clients.

What is the difference between a counseling group and a support group?

Group counseling is a structured clinical service led by a trained mental health professional. It is designed to help participants work on specific emotional, behavioral, relationship, or mental health concerns using therapeutic guidance and evidence-informed strategies.

A support group is generally less formal and focuses on shared experiences, encouragement, education, and connection among people facing similar life challenges. Support groups may be facilitated by staff, volunteers, or trained leaders, but they are not the same as clinical therapy.

At the Faulk Center, both group counseling and support groups can help people feel less alone, build coping skills, and receive support in a safe and respectful environment. The right fit depends on a person’s needs, goals, and the type of support they are seeking.

What are your sources of financial support?

The Faulk Center for Counseling is supported through a combination of private donations, grants, fundraising events, board and community contributions, foundation support, government and municipal funding, program revenue, and investment support from the Faulk Endowment. We also receive support from individuals, businesses, civic partners, and community organizations that believe in our mission.

This diverse mix of funding allows us to keep services affordable and accessible, including for individuals and families who may not otherwise be able to afford quality mental health counseling. Every source of support helps us continue providing care to children, teens, adults, families, and seniors throughout the community, regardless of their ability to pay.
